This two-book set collects Octavia E. Butler's landmark Parable series. In Parable of the Sower, teenager Lauren Olamina survives the collapse of society in a near-future California and founds a new belief system, Earthseed, as she leads survivors toward safety. The Nebula Award-winning sequel, Parable of the Talents, follows Lauren's struggle to build her community against the rise of a violent theocratic movement. Prescient, powerful, and profoundly influential, these novels remain essential works of speculative fiction.
